Panel Profiles
Used when a stripped look is desired, the width of the
batten section mimics the appearance of an old wooden roof system where bats are used to
cover the seams between individual boards. Batten seam is a concealed fastener system.
T-panels are used when special roof contour
requirements-- such as a barrel curve roof--make the use of double-lock impossible.
Although somewhat less expensive than double-lock, t-panel is not as strong as double-lock
as the seam sections snap on rather than the panels being machine locked together.
T-panel is a concealed fastener system.
The double-lock standing seam is the premium roofing
system. Clips go over the male side of the
panel --the right side in this image--down to
the substrate and are fastened with screws. double-lock is a concealed fastener system.
Top
left is a corrugated panel; top right, Five V Crimp--the most popular
residential exposed fastener roofing
system. Bottom left is a M panel--also a popular choice; on the bottom
right, R panel.
The
Kynar/Hylar Coating System
The
Kynar/Hylar coating system consists of 12 layers of
coating surrounding a sheet of high elasticity carbon steel. On the color side, the top
coat is the fluoropolymer color coat, next an anti-corrosion primer, below that chromic
acid anti-corrosion sealer rinse, then a complex oxide conversion coat, and beneath that
an alkaline cleanser, then the G90 zinc/aluminum hot dip coating. The steel lies at
the bottom of these six coats of protection. The pattern repeats working from the
steel out again on the roof side, the only difference being that instead of a color coat,
the roof side gets a wash coat as the last layer.
